About Faces of SWLA

I first heard about the “Faces of” concept at a conference in Washington DC several years ago. At the same conference last year, held in New Orleans, I met a publisher from Fargo, North Dakota, who had created numerous “Faces” magazines in multiple cities.

The magazines they created help promote locally owned businesses by featuring a “Face” of a specific business category (such as “Face of Jewelry”).

This publisher found that the publication was able to connect community members with local businesses in the area.

“Faces” magazines exist in numerous markets around the country and are very well received wherever they exist. We love the idea of promoting community, and are excited to introduce the “Faces of” concept to SW Louisiana!

We hope you enjoy this publication and take the opportunity to get to know some of the people behind our thriving business community.

Over the last 30+ years, we have created many magazines including the Home Finder’s Guide, Design & Build, and others.

I believe you will enjoy reading about your friends and neighbors in the ensuing pages. This publication is considered a “native advertising piece” in the publishing industry. This means that each “Face of” is a sponsored page and paid for by that participant.

This is not a “Best of” publication-it is simply a way for our community to see some of the “Faces” of local businesses. In turn, we are connecting our readers to businesses that they may not be familiar with!

By making this a sponsored magazine, we were able to produce a high quality magazine and provide 33,000 copies free to the public. Our sales and editorial teams worked to ensure that we reached out to credible “Faces” of the categories we chose.

Our goal is for readers to enjoy learning more about some of the people behind the businesses that serve the great citizens of Southwest Louisiana. We hope it will create a better sense of community and also encourage more of us to SHOP LOCAL.
